The research on miniaturized wireless sensor which enables real-time monitoring of food spoilage, conducted by Dr. Emin İstif (Molecular Biology and Genetics, Kadir Has University) who completed his postdoctoral studies at Koç University, and our own Asst. Prof. Levent Beker (Mechanical Engineering) with the contribution of Prof. İskender Yılgör and Dr. Emel Yılgör (Chemistry) and Asst Prof. Hatice Ceylan Koydemir (Texas A&M University) has been published in Nature Food Magazine.

Prof. Dr. Can Erkey from Koç University and Dr. Deniz Şanlı Yıldız from Ford-Otosan organized a two-day workshop on hydrogen fuel cells for Ford-Otosan engineers at Koç University. The first day was allocated to lectures on various technical and theoretical aspects of Proton Exchane Membrane (PEM) fuel cells. The second day included a demonstration of the operation of a PEM fuel cell located at Prof. Dr. Can Erkey’s laboratory, experiments on the importance of various operating parameters on fuel cell performance and joint discussions on incorporation of a PEM fuel cell into a heavy duty truck which works with hydrogen.

RML (Robotics and Mechatronics Laboratory) members have received the best poster presentation award at IEEE WHC. Industrial Engineering Society is the ‘cum laude’ recipient of the 2017 INFORMS Student Chapter distinctions. KU Informs Student Chapter is also the only student chapter among the awardees that is outside of North America. Congratulations to the society and their advisor Professor Metin Türkay.

The “Science and Engineering Day”, a joint organization by the College of Sciences and College of Engineering, took place on May 12, 2017. During the event, Design Projects of our senior students were exhibited and presented to faculty members, participants from industry, graduates and university wide current students.
