Prof. Demircan Canadinç, from the Department of Mechanical Engineering,  received the prestigious Humboldt Research Award for his excellent research work.

Prof. Canadinç’s professional focus is on the mechanical properties of metallic materials and their microstructural causes, AI-based material design, and the simulation of material behavior from the atomistic to the microscopic scale.

The Co-published Study by Caltech and Dr. Uğur Teğin

Dr. Uğur Teğin, with the Caltech Optical Imaging team, demonstrated that optical bandit waves could occur spatially and temporally in next-generation lasers using the world’s fastest imaging system. Their work revealed that these infrequent and unpredictable giant optical waves produce high-quality ultra-short (femtosecond) laser pulses due to multidimensional and complex nonlinear visual effects.
