Bio

Dr. Ertugrul Basar received his Ph.D. degree from Istanbul Technical University in 2013. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Koç University, Istanbul, Turkey, and the director of the Communications Research and Innovation Laboratory (CoreLab). He had visiting positions at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany (2022, Mercator Fellow) and Princeton University, USA (2011-2012, Visiting Research Collaborator). His research interests include next-generation wireless communication systems, Internet of things, deep learning and signal processing for communications, and secure communication systems. In the past, Dr. Basar served as an Editor/Senior Editor for many journals, including IEEE Communications Letters, IEEE Transactions on Communications, Physical Communication, and IEEE Access. Currently, he is an Editor of Frontiers in Communications and Networks. He is an Associate Member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences, a Fellow IEEE, and a Fellow of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA). Dr. Basar has received numerous awards and recognitions for his research, including the “National Leader Researchers” support from TUBITAK, “IEEE ComSoc Best Young Researcher Award for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa Region” in 2020, “Science Heroes Association Scientist of the Year Award” in 2019, BAGEP Award in 2018, and TÜBA-GEBİP Award” in 2017.
