Türkiye’s first prosthetic arm was developed at Koç University. September 21, 2017
KU researchers Prof. İsmail Lazoğlu and Mr. Sarmad Shams developed a prosthetic arm for Mr. Ömer Çakar, a Koç University staff member. Professor İsmail Lazoğlu of our Mechanical Engineering program and his doctoral student Sarmad Shams from the Biomedical Engineering program were able to develop first Turkish prosthesis arm using mostly domestic components. The project was developed within the PhD work of Mr. Shams supervised by Professor Lazoğlu at KU Manufacturing and Automation Research Center (MARC).
